Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before booking, listing, or using the SquatchRV platform.
Effective Date: January 1, 2025 · Version 1.0
Plain-English Commitment: These Terms are written to be clear and understandable. We've avoided unnecessary legal jargon so that renters, hosts, and partners can make informed decisions about using SquatchRV.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the SquatchRV platform — including our website, mobile experience, and related services — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, all platform rules, and any rental-specific rules displayed during the booking process. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use SquatchRV.
These Terms apply to all users, including renters, hosts, visitors, and anyone else who interacts with the platform.
What SquatchRV Does
SquatchRV is an online camper and RV rental marketplace that connects renters with hosts who list campers, travel trailers, motorhomes, fifth wheels, pop-up campers, and related rental equipment.
SquatchRV provides the technology platform, payment processing, messaging tools, and optional insurance/protection products. We do not own or operate the vehicles listed on the platform unless specifically and explicitly stated.
SquatchRV Is a Marketplace
SquatchRV acts as an intermediary marketplace. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, SquatchRV is not the owner, operator, or insurer of any listed vehicle.
Hosts are solely responsible for:
The accuracy and completeness of their listing descriptions
The mechanical condition and roadworthiness of their vehicle
Compliance with applicable state, local, and federal laws for their vehicle
Honoring confirmed bookings and communicating any issues promptly
SquatchRV does not independently verify every listing detail. Renters should review all listing information carefully and ask questions before booking.
User Accounts
All users must create an account with accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
SquatchRV may require any of the following before allowing bookings or listings:
Government-issued identity verification
Driver's license verification
Payment method verification
Background screening (in applicable states)
Additional documentation at our discretion
Providing false or misleading information is a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account suspension.
Renter Responsibilities
As a renter, you agree to:
Treat the camper with reasonable care and return it in the same condition it was received
Follow all rules set by the host as disclosed in the listing and rental agreement
Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws during the rental
Return the camper at the agreed time and location
Report any damage, accident, mechanical failure, or incident immediately to SquatchRV and the host — within 24 hours
Never use the camper in a prohibited manner (see Section 12)
Operate or tow the vehicle only if you are properly licensed and qualified to do so
Not allow unauthorized drivers or operators to use the vehicle
Host Responsibilities
As a host, you agree to:
Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date listing information, including photos, vehicle specs, condition, and pricing
Disclose any known mechanical issues, cosmetic damage, or limitations before booking
Maintain your vehicle in a safe, clean, and roadworthy condition
Honor all confirmed bookings except in genuine emergencies
Carry adequate insurance on your vehicle as required by your state
Comply with all SquatchRV policies, including the Host Agreement signed at listing creation
Not list vehicles you do not own or are not authorized to rent
Payments
All payments — including deposits, rental fees, cleaning fees, pet fees, and any other charges — must be made through SquatchRV's approved payment system.
Users may not:
Arrange payments outside the SquatchRV platform to avoid fees, taxes, or insurance requirements
Request or accept cash, wire transfers, Venmo, Zelle, or other non-platform payments for SquatchRV bookings
Misrepresent payment amounts to circumvent platform fees
Attempting to bypass the payment system is a serious violation of these Terms and will result in account suspension. SquatchRV charges a service fee to renters and a platform fee to hosts. All fees are disclosed before booking confirmation.
Communication Rules
All booking-related communication must take place within the SquatchRV messaging system until a booking is confirmed.
Before booking confirmation, users may not share:
Phone numbers or personal email addresses
Payment links or account information
Social media handles or external contact methods
Links to external sites designed to bypass SquatchRV
This policy protects both renters and hosts from fraud, scams, and off-platform transactions that remove safety protections. After a booking is confirmed, contact information may be shared freely through SquatchRV's messaging system.
Violations may result in message filtering, account warnings, or account suspension.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation and refund rules are determined by the cancellation policy selected by the host and displayed to the renter before booking.
Standard cancellation windows are:
7 or more days before the trip start: Full refund minus the service fee
3–6 days before the trip start: 50% refund
Less than 3 days before the trip start: No refund
Host cancellations of confirmed bookings may result in fees, listing penalties, or account restrictions. Force majeure events (government-declared disasters, severe weather emergencies) are handled on a case-by-case basis at SquatchRV's discretion.
Refunds, where applicable, are returned to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
Insurance and Protection
SquatchRV offers optional supplemental protection plans that renters may purchase at checkout. These plans are provided through third-party underwriters, not SquatchRV directly.
Coverage details — including deductibles, exclusions, claim limits, roadside assistance terms, and geographic restrictions — vary by plan, state, unit type, and insurance partner. Users must carefully review all protection plan details before booking.
Hosts are required to maintain their own vehicle insurance. SquatchRV does not provide insurance coverage to hosts.
SquatchRV is not an insurance company. Nothing in these Terms creates an insurance policy or guarantee of coverage.
Damage, Accidents, and Claims
Renters must immediately report — and in no case later than 24 hours after discovery — any of the following:
Accidents or collisions
Theft or break-in
Mechanical failure or breakdown
Interior or exterior damage
Tire blowouts, tow vehicle incidents, or hitch failures
Any other incident that affects the vehicle's condition or value
To file a report: Contact SquatchRV at support@squatchrv.com with your booking ID, a description of the incident, and timestamped photos.
SquatchRV may collect, review, and share documentation including photos, messages, trip records, GPS data, and payment records to assist in claims processing. Failure to report incidents promptly may affect your ability to file a claim or may result in full liability for damages.
Prohibited Uses
Campers and RVs listed on SquatchRV may not be used for any of the following:
Illegal activity of any kind
Unauthorized towing — renters must have an appropriately rated tow vehicle
Racing, speed testing, or stunt driving
Attendance at festivals or large events if prohibited in the host's listing rules
Off-road use, beach driving, or unmaintained road driving unless explicitly permitted
Subleasing, re-renting, or allowing unauthorized third parties to use the vehicle
Commercial use (film production, advertising, rideshare, delivery) without written host and SquatchRV approval
Smoking or tobacco use inside the vehicle if prohibited by the host
Pet occupancy inside the vehicle if prohibited by the host
Transporting passengers inside a towed trailer or camper while in motion
Any other activity deemed unsafe or in violation of platform policies
Violations may result in forfeiture of the security deposit, additional damage charges, account suspension, and legal liability.
Platform Enforcement
SquatchRV reserves the right to take enforcement action at its sole discretion, including:
Suspending or permanently banning user accounts
Cancelling active or pending bookings
Holding or withholding host payouts pending investigation
Removing listings that violate platform rules
Restricting access to platform features
Reporting suspected illegal activity to law enforcement
Users who believe enforcement action was taken in error may contact support@squatchrv.com to request a review. SquatchRV's enforcement decisions are final within the scope of the platform.
Limitation of Liability
SquatchRV is a technology marketplace. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SquatchRV is not responsible for:
Personal injury, death, or property damage arising from a rental
Mechanical failure, breakdown, or unsafe vehicle conditions
Disputes between renters and hosts
Theft of personal property inside a vehicle
Losses arising from off-platform communication or transactions
Acts of third parties, including tow service providers, campgrounds, or insurance carriers
Users acknowledge that camper and RV rentals involve inherent risk. By using SquatchRV, you agree to assume those risks and agree that your remedy for covered losses is governed by any applicable insurance or protection plan, not by SquatchRV's liability.
In no event shall SquatchRV's total liability exceed the amount of platform fees collected from you in the transaction giving rise to the claim.
Updates to Terms
SquatchRV may update, modify, or replace these Terms of Service as the platform grows, laws change, or our services evolve. When changes are made, the updated Terms will be posted with a revised effective date.
We will notify users of material changes via email or an in-platform notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect, where reasonably practicable.
Your continued use of SquatchRV after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of those updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the platform.
Attorney Review Notice: These Terms are provided as a working platform policy draft and should be reviewed by a qualified attorney before public launch. Nothing in these Terms constitutes legal advice.
